• India has retained its top 10 spot in the best performing countries for the third year in a row in the global Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI) 2022 and ranked 10th.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched two innovative customer centric initiatives of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). These initiatives are the RBI Retail Direct Scheme and the Reserve Bank - Integrated Ombudsman Scheme. The RBI Retail Direct Scheme is aimed at enhancing access to the government securities market for retail investors. The Reserve Bank - Integrated Ombudsman Scheme aims to further improve the grievance redress mechanism for resolving customer complaints against entities regulated by RBI.

• The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the declaration of 15th November as Janjatiya Gaurav Divas to commemorate the birth anniversary of Birsa Munda who is revered as Bhagwan by tribal communities across the country.

• The 32nd edition of India-Thailand Coordinated Patrol (Indo-Thai CORPAT) between the Indian Navy and the Royal Thai Navy was conducted from 12 – 14 November 2021.

• Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Directorate of Defence Research and Development (DDR&D), Ministry of Defence, Israel have entered into a Bilateral Innovation Agreement (BIA) to promote innovation and accelerated R&D in startups and MSMEs of India and Israel for the development of dual use technologies.

• Fumio Kishida was re-elected as Japan’s Prime Minister after his governing party scored a major victory in key parliamentary elections.

• Salman Khurshid, Former Union Minister and Congress leader launched his book on the Ayodhya verdict named “Sunrise over Ayodhya – Nationhood in our Times”.

• Australia won their maiden ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 title after beating New Zealand by 8 wickets in the final at the Dubai International Stadium, Dubai.

• Senior IPS officer and director of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, Atul Karwal, has been appointed Director-General of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

• The 12th district of Meghalaya – ‘Eastern West Khasi Hills’ was inaugurated by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma. This new district, with its headquarters at Mairang, was bifurcated from its parent district of West Khasi Hills.

• The 6th Edition of the India- France joint military exercise “EX SHAKTI 2021” is being conducted from 15 to 26 November 2021 in Frejus, France.

• The central government has brought two ordinances to extend the tenure of directors of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for up to five years. At present, the tenure for the chiefs of both central agencies is two years.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated to the nation the redeveloped Rani Kamlapati Railway Station in Bhopal. Rani Kamlapati Railway Station in Bhopal is the country's first ISO certified, first Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model based railway station.

• The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has recognised Bhattu Kalan police station of Fatehabad district in Haryana among the top three police stations in India in 2021.

• The 3rd edition of India, Singapore and Thailand Trilateral Maritime Exercise ‘SITMEX – 21’ was conducted from 15 to 16 Nov 2021 in the Andaman Sea. The exercise was hosted by Thailand. Indian Naval Ship (INS) Karmuk, an indigenously built Missile Corvette participated in SITMEX – 21.

• Minister of State Civil Aviation and retired general VK Singh inaugurated India’s first Center for Excellence in Research on Drone/UAV Technology and Artificial Intelligence at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati.

• The Karnataka government decided to rename the Mumbai-Karnataka region comprising 7 districts as 'Kittur Karnataka'. Mumbai-Karnataka region consists of Uttara Kannada, Belagavi, Dharwad, Vijayapura, Bagalkot, Gadag and Haveri districts.

• The State Cabinet of Arunachal Pradesh, headed by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, approved the Kaiser-i-Hind as the State butterfly. Kaiser-i-Hind is a large and brightly coloured butterfly. It is scientifically known as Teinopalpus imperialis.

• A book titled “Nehru: The Debates that Defined India” is co-authored by Tripurdaman Singh and Adeel Hussain.

• The Pochampally village in Telangana State has been selected as one of the best Tourism Villages by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO).

• PC Mody (Pramod Chandra Mody), a 1982-batch retired IRS officer and former Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), has been appointed as the new Secretary General of Rajya Sabha.

• Noted Economist and former Chief Economic Adviser to the Government of India, Dr Shankar Acharya has authored a new book titled “An Economist at Home and Abroad: A Personal Journey”.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first Global Innovation Summit of the Pharmaceuticals sector on 18th November 2021.This is a distinctive initiative that aims to bring together key Indian and international stakeholders from the government, industry, academia, investors, and researchers to discuss and strategize priorities to foster a thriving innovation ecosystem in the pharmaceuticals industry in India.

• According to the World Bank’s Remittance Prices Worldwide Database Report 2021, India has become the world’s largest recipient of remittances, receiving USD 87 billion (a gain of 4.6 % from previous year) in 2021. India had received over USD 83 billion in remittances in 2020.

• Union Minister for Commerce, Industry, Food and Public Distribution Piyush Goyal launched India's first Food Museum at Thanjavur district in Tamil Nadu.

• Recently, scientists have observed a quasi-satellite named Kamo`oalewa, tracking the Earth’s orbit around the Sun, could be a fragment from the moon. A mission to collect Kamo’oalewa’s samples has been scheduled for a launch in 2025.

• India was re-elected to the executive board of the UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) for the 2021-25 term with 164 votes. India was re-elected to Group IV of Asian and Pacific States which also include Japan, Philippines, Vietnam, Cook Islands and China.

• India’s Ministry of Earth Sciences launched the 41st Scientific Expedition to Antarctica with the arrival of the first batch of its contingent at the southern white continent. The first batch of 23 scientists and support staff reached the Indian Antarctic station Maitri.

• The Ministry of Rural Development has reached an important milestone with the completion of Geographical Information System (GIS) plans for 2 lakh Gram Panchayats (GPs) out of 2.69 lakh GPs under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA using remote sensing technology based on the ridge to valley approach.

• Malayalam writer M Mukundan has been selected for the prestigious JCB Prize for Literature 2021 for his novel ‘Delhi: A Soliloquy’.

• President of India, Ram Nath Kovind felicitated the awardees of the cleanest cities of India at the ‘Swachh Amrit Mahotsav’ hosted as part of Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban 2.0 by the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA).

• Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) completed 5 years on 20th November, 2021.

• INS Visakhapatnam, a P15B stealth guided missile destroyer, was commissioned into the Indian Navy at the Naval Dockyard, Mumbai.

• India bagged a total of 7 medals (1 Gold, 4 Silver and 2 Bronze) at the Asian Archery Championships 2021 held in Dhaka.

• India’s chief national badminton coach P. Gopi Chand formally launched his autobiography ‘Shuttler’s Flick: Making Every Match Count’.

• The 16th edition of the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) survey, which was released by Pratham Education Foundation, is the oldest survey of its kind in the country. There has been an overall increase in the proportion of children enrolled in government schools between 2018 and 2020 i.e from 64.3% to 65.8%. However, in the year 2021, the enrollment suddenly went up to 70.3%.

• Bihar has scored the lowest in overall policing, followed closely by Uttar Pradesh, according to findings of a nationwide survey conducted by independent think-tank Indian Police Foundation (IPF). The top five states with the highest score on overall policing are Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Assam, Kerala and Sikkim.

• The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given its approval for provisioning of 4G based mobile services in Uncovered Villages of Aspirational Districts across 5 States of Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra & Odisha. The project would be funded by the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) scheme.

• The Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) launched the Special Credit Linked Capital Subsidy Scheme (SCLCSS) for the services sector. It was launched by Union Minister for MSME, Narayan Rane during the MSME North East Conclave.

• The 72nd edition of the National Book Award was organized by the National Book Foundation. Jason Mott won the 2021 National Book Award for fiction for his novel “Hell of a Book”.

• In cricket, Tamil Nadu won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title 2021. Tamil Nadu defeated Karnataka by four wickets in the finals in Arun Jaitley Stadium Delhi.

• In yet another remarkable feat which has showcased the world Prasar Bharati’s excellence in quality content creation, TV and Radio shows produced by Doordarshan and All India Radio respectively got multiple awards at the recently held ABU - UNESCO Peace Media Awards 2021 at Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.

• India's first 'Grass Conservatory' was inaugurated by the research wing of Uttarakhand forest department in Ranikhet of Almora district.

• The 37th edition of India - Indonesia Coordinated Patrol (IND-INDO CORPAT) was conducted between the Indian Navy and Indonesian Navy from 23 to 24 Nov 2021.

• The 15th edition of the biennial trilateral coast guard exercise ‘Dosti 2021’ involving India, the Maldives and Sri Lanka was conducted in the Maldives.

• Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Railways, announced the introduction of theme-based tourist circuit trains ‘Bharat Gaurav Trains’. Bharat Gaurav Trains will showcase India’s rich cultural heritage and magnificent historical places to people of India and world.

• The Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development for 2021 has been awarded to civil society organisation ‘Pratham’.
  

• National Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI): Baseline Report based on National Family Health Survey (NFHS)-4 (2015-16) has been developed by NITI Aayog in consultation with 12 Line Ministries and in partnership with State governments and the index publishing agencies –Oxford University’s Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). According to Global MPI 2021, India’s rank is 66 out of 109 countries.

• The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the continuation of the umbrella scheme "Atmosphere & Climate Research-Modelling Observing Systems & Services (ACROSS)" along with its eight sub-schemes to the next finance cycle (15th) of five years i.e. 2021-2026 at an estimated cost of Rs.2,135 crore.

• India and the United States (US) held the 12th ministerial-level meeting of the India-US Trade Policy Forum (TPF) in New Delhi. It was co-chaired by Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and US Trade Representative Katherine Tai. The last Trade Policy Forum (TPF) was held in 2017.

• INS Vela, the fourth submarine in the series of six submarines of Project-75, was commissioned on 25 Nov 21 in the presence of Admiral Karambir Singh, Chief of the Naval Staff. The formal commissioning ceremony took place at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai.

• India has been elected as a member of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee for the term of four years (2021-25). The Committee is responsible for the implementation of the World Heritage Convention, defines the use of the World Heritage Fund and allocates financial assistance upon requests from States Parties. Note: Recently, India won re-election to the executive board of the UNESCO for the 2021-25 term.

• Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Smriti Zubin Irani has turned author with her debut novel ‘Lal Salaam: A Novel’. The novel, inspired by the tragic killings of 76 CRPF personnel in Dantewada in April 2010, is a tribute to the exceptional men and women who have given a lifetime of service to the country.

• The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) announced plans to skill the street vendors of East Delhi and make them eligible for e-cart licenses, improving the hygiene conditions in food preparation and aesthetics of vending.

• The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) have commenced India-ITU Joint Cyberdrill 2021. It is a four days virtual event starting from 30 November to 3 December 2021. This Cyberdrill is intended for Indian entities especially Critical Network Infrastructure operators.

• The country became a British colony, Barbados became the world’s newest republic. The Caribbean island nation removed Queen Elizabeth II as the head of the state. Dame Sandra Mason, the island's governor-general since 2018, was named as president-elect of the nation.

• The 52nd International Film Festival of India (IFFI), held in Goa in a hybrid format from November 20 -28, 2021 screened international films drawn from 73 countries at the festival. As many as 148 films were presented to film lovers in the International Section that included the World Premiere of 12 films, 7 International Premiere and 24 Asia Premiere. Uttar Pradesh has been picked as the most friendly state for film shooting.

• Bihar pavilion won a gold medal in the 40th India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2021 for “excellence in display” in state government/union territory pavilion category. IITF 2021 was organised at Pragati Maidan in Delhi from November 14 to 27.

• Dr S K Sohan Roy, a Forbes-listed entrepreneur from Kerala has become the first Indian who has been awarded the honorary title of 'Knighthood of Parte Guelfa' in Italy
